What is repentance?

Repentance is turning away from sin and towards God. We produce works meet for repentance and not sin after having repented.

Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: [20] But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. Acts 26:19-20

Sin is definitely not works meet for repentance.

Help from Webster’s 1828:

-> REPENT'ANCE, noun

Real penitence; sorrow or deep contrition for sin, as an offense and dishonor to God, a violation of his holy law, and the basest ingratitude towards a Being of infinite benevolence. This is called evangelical repentance and is accompanied and followed by amendment of life.

Repentance is a change of mind, or a conversion from sin to God.

...Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation. 2 Corinthians 7:10.

Repentance is the relinquishment of any practice, from conviction that it has offended God.

-> MEET, adjective [Latin convenio.] Fit; suitable; proper; qualified; convenient; adapted, as to a use or purpose.

Bring forth fruits meet for repentance. Matthew 3:8.

I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luke 13:3 and 6
