There is evil in the midst of the congregation…the Proverbs 5 woman…

Are there more Proverbs 5 women in the churches of America today than Proverbs 31 women?

Considering the disdain or just selfish disregard for modesty that is rampant in the churches today there is no doubt that the Proverbs 5 (also 2) “strange woman” is far more prevalent in the congregations of America than the Proverbs 31 woman.

Before anyone who actually is a Proverbs 5 woman tries to argue that they have never been physically intimate with anyone Jesus would tell you that that is not the defining act that constitutes the sin of causing someone to stumble in immorality. The sins of the flesh always begin in the mind. If they do not transition to the flesh they are still sin as far as God is concerned.

So with that said, immodest dress that leads to anyone lusting in their mind does indeed qualify a person as a Proverbs 5 woman.

For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell. Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them. Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth. Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house: Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel: Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger; And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed, And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof; And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me! I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly. Proverbs 5:3-14

As far as sin in the mind, this is what God has to say about that:

But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Matthew 5:28

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Matthew 23:25

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. Romans 8:7

With all this said, please consider what you are wearing or not wearing...Is your appearance sensual in a way that will cause another soul to stumble and sin?

Does your choice of fashion bring glory and attention to yourself or God?

If you choose to dress in a way that causes any of God’s children to stumble remember what Jesus said about causing someone to stumble. Don’t get caught up thinking He was talking only about little children because He wasn’t. He said we must all humble ourselves as children so this addresses all of God’s children.

Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Matthew 18:4-6

“Holiness” and “Holy” are perhaps the most under-emphasized and rarely used words in the pulpits of modern Christianity. If and when they are referred to, they are typically watered down by man-made d
