"These things"...are written that ye may know what?
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 1 John 5:13 These things = ✓ Keep his commandments (saved).. ✓ Keep his word (saved). ✓Abide in him and walk as Jesus walked (saved). ✓ Abide in him and sin not (saved). ✓ Be righteous (saved). ✓ Those who sin are of the devil (not saved). ✓ Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin (saved). ✓ Whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God (not saved). ✓ Do not love the world or things in the world. If you do the love of the Father is not in you (not saved). ✓ All that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father (not saved). ✓ He that doeth the will of God abideth for ever (saved). And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. 1 John 2:3-6 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. 1 John 2:15-17 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. 1 John 3:4-11
